About this lesson

Reflecting decades of work, Herman students Anna Racicot and Gabrielle Herbertson organized, edited and compiled two books containing hundreds of Herman’s lessons. The books, Earth Journey I and Earth Journey II, are the source of most of the weekly lessons published on this site.
Each of the books contains more than 100 photos of Herman’s paintings, an introduction detailing the history and suggested use of the lessons, and an appendix that contains additional information about the communities practices.
Both books are available for sale through the Earth Journey organization’s online store.
A Herman Rednick Lesson
The mind is in constant movement. Most argument, conflict, and resentment takes place first in the mind. All wars are mental at first, then physical. The work of the dis- ciple is to learn to control the mind. Focus on one idea helps, but the only way to fill your mind with peace is to have love in the heart. The repetition of a mantra may seem mechanical at first. Later you begin to feel the spirit and the power of the mantra.
Streams of uncontrolled thought use energy.
