Doing "The Work"

THE PLAN IN YOUR LIFE

There is a plan in your life. You were born in a family to help you to walk the spiritual path. Your mother and father are a gift. Your wife or husband, whether the first, second, or third, is helping you to transmute your person- ality. Your friends and the people you work with are part of a design. If you do not learn your lesson through love, the experience is repeated in a different form. If the condition is resented, it will return in a more intense experience.

Mantra:
I will be grateful for every experience.

THE POWER OF LOVE

Someone asked me, “What shall I read so that I can prepare myself for the temple?”

Another asked, “How long shall I meditate so that I shall know how to find the temple?”

Another asked, “What shall I eat and should I fast one day a week to prepare the body?”

Also, someone asked, “How can I get close to a master?”

The most important question, they did not ask: how can I develop more love? Though you read a thousand books and have the knowledge of all things, if there is no love in the heart and you stand before the temple door for a thousand years, it will not open.

It is only the spiritual fire of love within the heart that shall open the temple door. The spiritual presence is everywhere. A host of angels await the call from a sincere heart. Masters of Wisdom shall hear your note when you are ready and you are on the road of love and service.

Mantra:
The secret of life is love.
The path to the higher world is love. With love I enfold all I know.

THE SHORT PATH

A disciple moves in different grades of development. What more can you do?

You work on your list* until you feel love. Make a commitment every day that you will live like the Christ; this brings you close to the City of God. Increase your faith that all things work for good. Be grateful. Touch someone every hour with a beam of love. Use a mantra every minute.

Your mind has to be focused. A dedicated disciple walks with the Christ every hour.

Mantra:
I am the risen Christ.

THE SPIRITUAL PATH

The psychologists teach to express your hate in or- der to get rid of it. Christ said, “Love one another.”* When you love with the conditional quality of personal love, you are preparing your heart for the unconditional love of the Christ. To love another is a preparation for the influx of a stream of fire from the City of God.

To love your enemies does not mean you approve of what they do. Instead, you meet the condition with a calm mind and a heart full of love. We have proof that hate causes cancer. Whatever you give out, you receive in return. When you beat a pillow with hate, holding the image of your mother, you are killing her. This is the psychic law in witchcraft.

When you hate the experience, you are caught in it. When you do retrospective writing,** you can change the thoughtform.

The psychologists teach the Mosaic law, an eye for an eye.*** We teach the spiritual path, to love one another.

Mantra:
I will love my brother with the quality I have until I love like the Christ.

The Work

Herman described the process of putting his teachings into practice as "The work." This section contains some of his lessons that describe conceptual concepts as well as actual practices that supported that work. Love everyone -- how on earth can you do that? How do I connect with the Christ and the angelic host? Methods of healing. Dealing with the difficulties of everyday life. These issues and more are touched on here.

HERMAN REDNICK PRACTICES FOR THE PATH OF LOVE

Herman Rednick Practices.

One central issue that many students of Herman faced was how to fulfill the fundamental Christ instruction: Love one Another.  Often a student would come to Herman for guidance on how to resolve a problem they were experiencing for a family member, parent or friend.  “Send the a beam of love” he would reply.  “But I’m doing that” most students would reply.  To which he always responded: “Love more.”  How exactly do we do that?

Herman fundamental practices described by the editors in the introductions of the Earth Journey Books.

100 Christ-centered lessons

In 2002, Robert Van Arsdale collected 100 of Herman’s Christ-focused lessons and self-published them in a booklet titled “The Cosmic Christ.” The content is available here.

Poems and Music

Herman described many of his experiences on the spiritual path, both worldly and other worldly, in poetry.   The poems, his words, and other writings inspired songs written by a handful of his musically talented students.

Poetry: A collection of his poetry was published in the book “Hidden Door to Reality.” These are a few selected from that book.
Songs:
Meditation sessions with Herman began and/or ended with music written and sung by class members. You can listen to a few here.

HERMAN REDNICK LESSONS

About these Lessons
There is a group in northern New Mexico that meets weekly. One or two of Herman’s lessons are read. These become the focus of the week’s meditations. As it has been since the very beginning of Herman’s teachings, those gathered read aloud reflections on their meditations, contributing and expanding our understanding of the teachings

Lesssons – A chronological listing of the weekly lessons with links to the lessons themselves.
Titles – An alphabetical listing of the titles of the lessons, with links.
Mantras – An alphabetical listing of the mantras of the lessons, with links.
First Lines – An alphabetic listing of the first line of each lesson, with links.
